So I was first introduced to Westbrook when putting together my Spotify local playlist a few months back. As with many of the submissions, it either came as a direct suggestion from someone else, or another band told them to submit a song. Either way, It is great that we have bands that look out for each other and genuinely want them to get noticed. I started following Westbrook and saw they recently played a sold out Pub Rock show for the Baseline EP release, and they also do something really cool called “Westbrook Crush Wednesday” This is their effort to get other bands noticed, they post something about a local band they like and want others to hear as well. For that effort, I applaud these guys! The song I was sent was called “Part Two” which upon first listen you may not catch it, but it really reads as a story of a band (them I am boldly assuming) coming together, struggling and then growing to success “We’ll be the band you’ll be jealous of, on the radio with our number 1”  I enjoy the musical progression of the song, it starts as a slower indie-rock vibe and then breaks into a full out almost pop-punk rocker. It definitely made me want to hear more from Sean, Josh and Kevin.

How did you come together as a band?

In 2012 the three of us moved into an apartment strictly as friends. Our drummer (Kevin) was in a metalcore band and I (Sean) just wrote music in my room. There was never really any musical collaboration outside of jam session on some occasions with the two of us. When Kevin’s band split up, he became more focused on writing drum parts for the songs I was writing. After a few months of learning how to play those songs we realized it was starting to become pretty real and we’d have to get a bassist. We figured since our other roommate Josh is our best friend and could play chord progressions on a guitar he would be perfect because hee was also a quick learner.

Tell me up to 3 of your influences on your instrument (or voice)

Sean – Issac Brock, Rivers Cuomo, and Tom Delonge

Josh- Mike Dirnt, Mark Hoppus, Brian Sella

Kevin – Andrew Tkaczyk, Chad Szelinga, Ringo Starr

Now tell me something about the band that no one knows, at least until now..

We have matching tattoos on our feet..

What was your worst or most embarrassing on-stage occurrence for the band or one of you personally?

We are fortunate enough to say we haven’t had an embarrassing live moments.

Ok, pretend each of you never met and you can start a band with ANY musician, who is it?

Sean- Meredith Codreau

Josh – Brian Sella

Kevin – Rivers Cuomo

Each of you tell me your favorite song of all time

Sean – Mr. Blue Sky by ELO

Josh – Twin Size Mattress by The Front Bottoms

Kevin – All-Star by Smash Mouth, so 2016 has been a pretty great year for me

What song do you WISH you had written?

We wish we had written Clarity by Jimmy Eat World, but not the song, the entire album.

Now tell me your favorite song by a LOCAL band

Sean – Delivery Failure by Good Grief

Josh – Revolving Doors by The Sink or Swim

Kevin – Moving Out by Sundressed

What is your favorite place to play live, and why?

The Rebel Lounge. Their staff is fantastic and the sound is top notch.

Best way to hear Westbrook, live or on a recorded

Definitely live

Name 3 bands for me that our readers need to see or hear.

Baseline, Tree Season, and TOSO

Now give me one word to describe the local music scene

What, if anything, would you change about the local music scene?

More DIY venues would be fantastic.

Ok, your turn to shamelessly promote. What is coming up for Westbrook?

We have a show on January 7th at Pub Rock with Divided Minds, Safe, so Simple, and Trust Your Gut. We are also coming out with our second full length record “Goodbye, Fairland” at some point in 2017. AND..Not only are we local but our instruments are too. Check out bel.sonique guitars and M4 Drum Company (ed. note. Definitely check out bel.sonique. amazing work)

Final Thoughts..Anything goes.

Our cat is sweet and perfect, we love him. His name is Mosby.
